Slash Guitar SeriesStyle of Slash Guitar Series: Starting out with a discussion of the special tuning that Slash uses and then going from the Sweet Chile Solo Lead Guitar and through to many of the classic songs shown from beginning to end, we've got hours of video for your info-tainment. Slash's Guitar Tuning PrimerWe'll be expanding on this article in future editions, but for now we'll just set it straight for the record: Slash tunes down his guitar by a 1/2-step from Standard Tuning. The guitar Standard Tuning from Lowest string to Highest string is E A D G B E, however, Slash tunes each string of his guitar down by a half step to Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb. This tuning is commonly referred to as E-flat tuning and it has been used by many great legendary guitarists, including Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Yngwie Malmsteen. An important tip to remember about this tuning is that when using an electronic or digital guitar tuner device, you'll need to know the enharmonic equivalents of the flatted notes listed above since most if not all guitar tuners do not display flats! Furthermore, you'll need a chromatic tuner in order to achieve the Slash tuning; if you tuner only tunes the notes EADGBE, as many low-cost tuners do, then you'll be out of luck. When using a guitar tuning device, the Slash guitar tuning is: D# G# C# F# A# D#.Slash guitar lesson videos seriesThe following video lessons are coming here to Theory-Cat.com in the near future: The Godfather Theme November Rain solo Velvet Revolver: Fall To Pieces Velvet Revolver: Slither Welcome to the Jungle Sweet Child O Mine Knockin' On Heaven's Door It's So Easy Don't Cry Mr. Brownstone You Could Be Mine Paradise City Civil War!
